Wendy Wischer sculpture installation at The Lowe Art Museum

Reflecting Hope, Wendy Wischer

Sculpture Intermedia Associate Professor Wendy Wischer opens her sculpture installation, Reflecting Hope, at The Lowe Art Museum in Miami February 16 - May 28, 2023. The exhibition was curated by Lance Fung and Lowe Curator, Caitlin Swindell.

Wischer works in a wide range of media, from sculptural objects, to installations, video, projection, light, sound, and community based and public works. Her lived experience in both rural and urban settings, informs much of her work, as Wischer explores elements of the natural and man-made worlds with a focus on environmental issues. By utilizing inorganic materials, like wire and mirrored mylar, to create organic forms—a tree in this case—she invites viewers to reflect upon their relationships with their surroundings. She also prompts us to think about the future, including hope, which, here, can be understood through her careful attention to the interplay of light, shadow, and reflection.
