Art of Belonging Call for Entries

Call for Entries:

“The Art of Belonging” exhibition invites BIPOC (Black/Indigenous/People of Color) artists working in the state of Utah and with Utah roots*, to submit work that explores themes of belonging and dis-belonging. Belonging is an ancient concept rooted in indigenous knowledge that is relevant today and central to future-facing movements such as Afro-futurism, which combine science-fiction with history and culture to envision alternate worlds. The concept of belonging can spark new visions of how we can all move and work towards social, racial, and economic justice.

“The Art of Belonging” exhibition recognizes that this moment in time is an ideal one for asking: How might we imagine a truly just and equitable Utah where everyone belongs? To generate answers to that question, we invite BIPOC artists in Utah to help us imagine new narratives, ways of being, and expressions of hope.
