Visiting Artist: Ashley Eliza Williams

October 23 @ 4:30 pm

Ashley Eliza Williams

Ashley Eliza Williams’ paintings shift between representation and abstraction, zooming in and out of extreme focus. She is interested in what she calls “enclosed environments” or “shy ecosystems” — landscapes that exist within a contained area, often on or within a single object like a rock or cloud. Her newest work is a series of “communication attempts” inspired by a fascination with non-human language. What can we learn from listening to quiet things, watching slow things, or being present with each other in different ways?

Williams is an interdisciplinary artist exploring new ways of interacting with nature and with each other. She shows her work nationally and internationally. She has taught painting, design, and color theory at The University of Colorado and Colorado State University. Ashley is represented by K Contemporary in Denver, Colorado.
