The Department of Art and Art History has an endowment that funds annual visiting artist and art historian lectures. Students at the University of Utah and the Wasatch community benefit from the insight, knowledge, and experience from a wide range of art professionals.
International and national artists, art professionals, and art historians engage in seminars, workshops, and studio visits with students. This exposure to diverse creative approaches immeasurably enriches our students' experience. Our department has been proud to present an impressive list of speakers. Undergraduate and graduate students from the areas of intermedia/sculpture, ceramics, and printmaking particiapated in the process. Kyoko Ibe was brought to the University as a joint venture between the Departments of Art and Art History and Modern Dance. Along with the workshop Kyoko Ibe gave a public lecture on contemporary Japanese sculpture from paper, installed her sculptures as a set design that was part of Modern Dance's spring dance performances, and exhibited a large sculptural installation on campus. |
