A three-day intensive workshop with Japanese artist Kyoko Ibe gave students the opportunity to learn to make paper and to use paper as a sculptural material. Undergraduate and graduate students from the areas of intermedia/sculpture, ceramics, and printmaking particiapated in the process. Kyoko Ibe was brought to the University as a joint venture between the Departments of Art and Art History and Modern Dance. Along with the workshop Kyoko Ibe gave a public lecture on contemporary Japanese sculpture from paper, installed her sculptures as a set design that was part of Modern Dance's spring dance performances, and exhibited a large sculptural installation on campus.
