Intro to Art History
   First Year Studio Three-dimensional

The First Year Studio Three-dimensional sequence is designed to introduce and familiarize first year art majors with formal 3-D design issues and materials and processes through diverse applications. Studio problems explore the principles of design through the use of line, plane, form, and space. Course projects are designed to provide students with hands on use of materials, tools, construction methods and processes. Students engage in topical discussions, group critiques and begin to establish a personal vocabulary.

PRE ART COURSES
ART 2300, 2350 First Year Studio 3-D

2300: This First Year Studio course is designed to introduce students to fundamental 3-D design issues and begin explorations into materials and process, and tools and construction methods. Projects will focus on 3-D formal applications of line, plane, form, and space, with investigations of positive/negative, interior/exterior, volumes/mass, multiples/repetition, scale, colors/surfaces, texture, etc.

2350: This course builds on Art 2300, and is designed to extend and broaden formal applications of materials and processes, and involves a variety of approaches. Students will be familiarized with basic wood shop techniques. Students will be expected to engage in topical discussions, group critiques and begin to establish a personal vocabulary.
