The Drawing Minor benefits a broad student body by offering a focused study of drawing to students from across the University. The Drawing Minor has numerous possible applications within a diverse range of majors offered at the University of Utah.

Requirements

I. STUDIO FOUNDATION REQUIREMENTS

Complete EIGHT (8) credits:

  • ART 2200 (4) Beginning Drawing – FA
  • ART 2250 (4) Drawing, Value, and Color – SP

–OR–

  • ART 2203 (2) Evidence- FA, SP
  • ART 2204 (2) Illusion- FA, SP
  • ART 2205 (2) Mapping- FA, SP
  • ART 2206 (2) Matrix- FA, SP

Complete ONE (1) course:

  • DRAW 3130 (4) Drawing I – FA, SP

II. DRAWING ELECTIVES

Complete THREE courses:

  • DRAW 3040 (3) Drawing the Human Head and Hands – SU
  • DRAW 3120 (3) Figure Structure – FA, SP
  • DRAW 3180 (3) Drawing Installation – FA
  • DRAW 4110 (3) Drawing II – FA, SP
  • DRAW 4120 (3) Life Drawing – FA, SP
  • DRAW 4140 (3) Drawing III – FA, SP

Advising

Students who intend to declare a minor must see a College of Fine Arts Advisor. The advisor will assist the student to track program requirements and will notify the Graduation Division at the time of graduation (minor) or completion of the coursework (certificate).
