Graduate Programs: Master of Fine Arts

The Master of Fine Arts is a two-year terminal degree program for a total of 60 credit hours. Our program combines studio work and academic studies. MFA requirements also call for an MFA exhibition, Final Project Paper, and Final Orals.

Graduate students in the MFA program may specialize in Ceramics, Graphic Design, Illustration, Painting/Drawing, Photography/Digital Imaging, Printmaking, or Sculpture Intermedia.

The program is supported by broad facilities including printmaking, book making, wood shop, digital imaging and digital audio labs, darkroom, metal fabrication and foundry rooms, and kiln and glaze rooms. The graduate student to professor ratio provides students with specialized attention from faculty.


Course Requirements

- 6 credit hours in Art History
- 26 credit hours in a major studio area
- 10 credit hours in allied fields
    (studio hours outside the major studio area)
- 12 credit hours in Graduate Seminar
- 6 credit hours Final Project

60 credit hours in total
