Joseph Marotta is a professor in the Department of Art & Art History at the University of Utah. His work has been exhibited and collected extensively over the past thirty-five years. His work can be seen in the publications, Black and White Photography, An International Collection, and Photographers of the West.

His photographs explore the concept of time, the way we experience it’s passing and how that experience seems to be accelerating in the twenty-first century. By fragmenting, integrating hand written text, painting, staining and incomplete chemical development, he involves the viewer more in the image making process. He photographs primarily in France and Italy.
