Visiting Artist: Adela Goldbard

Adela Goldbard:
Destroying to Remember

Adela Goldbard is an interdisciplinary artist and educator who believes in the potential of art to generate critical thinking and social transformation. Her work melds video, sculpture, photography, text, pyrotechnic performances and immersive installations. Goldbard is a member of the National System of Artistic Creators of Mexico. She received an MFA in studio art from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (2017) and a BA in Hispanic language and literature from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (2012). She is the recipient of many prizes, including, most recently, the Edes Foundation Prize in 2017, the Don Julio Prize at Gallery Weekend CDMX 2017, the Jóvenes Creadores Grant in 2013–14, the Centenario Prize at Zona Maco 2012, and funding from Mexico’s National Endowment for Culture and the Arts. Goldbard is an assistant professor at the Rhode Island School of Design.
